You can take this Californian girl out of California, but you cannot take the Californian out of me. Whenever I get homesick there are plenty of little getaways in London that remind me of home. One of which is Selfridges Roof Top Bar also known as The Roof Deck. This Californian-style dining space is the perfect spot to soak in the few days of sunshine that London gets. It is a dine al fresco menu with an open roof deck above you. From some tasty guacamole to the perfect bespoke cocktails this menu has it all.
The Location:
The dining space is styled with a timber boardwalk, tropical plants, and low wicker lighting. Which makes you feel like you are in Santa Monica, California and not in Central London. The outdoor terrace bar has a separate dining area and bar. There is a retractable roof, which is perfect for the unpredictable British weather. The terrace seating is lined with fairy lights which give it the beachy California vibes but still taking in the stunning London skyline views.
The Food
I only had the starters but you can bet that I tried the guacamole, and even though it isn’t as good as home, it comes pretty darn close. You can find other Cali-inspired food like jalapeño cornbread, tuna ceviche, burgers, mango salsa, and much much more. You will think you are dining beachside and not in London upon the first bite.Also, don’t forget to try out the Avocado and pistachio ice cream sandwich. It is made from avocados so it has to be Californian, and healthy, right?
The Drinks
Of course, there are a number of bespoke cocktails at Selfridges Roof Top Bar, I mean it is a bar after all. Cocktails include a cucumber and chill margarita, some cherry-blossom infused gin, watermelon martinis, and a ton of frozen cocktails. No matter what time of the year the cocktails can make you feel like you are laid out on a Californian beach instead of in gray London.
